Merry Christmas Friends of the Museum,

As we leave 2011 we reflect back on this year and we have many good memories and many things to be grateful for.   We are looking forward to the New Year, and all it will bring for the Lake Region Heritage Center staff and board members.  We would like to thank all the visitors who paid homage to our museum, visitors were from Germany, Japan, Australia, Puerto Rico, France, and from all over the United States.  We hope we were able to make your visit memorable!

The staff and Lake Region Heritage board members would like to take this time to wish everyone a "Merry Christmas" and Best Wishes for the New Year!

I will be stepping down as Director of the Heritage Center, and will miss it but I have other interests that I would like to pursue.  A new director/curator will be coming on board February 1st, and I wish this person well.

Dear Friends of the Museum,

The Lake Region Heritage center is pleased to announce the "New Website"!  Thanks to

the Devils Lake Area Foundation who funded our request.  We also received funds to

purchase a new computer which was needed badly, and the contributor's software which

is very friendly user and can be purchased at the North Dakota Telephone Company.

It seems like the summer just flew by and for the Old Post office museum it did!  Whew!

As always we had a very busy summer with visitors from all over the world, who were

quite impressed with our history here in the Lake Region.  So many questions are asked about the flood situation, it is one of the center converation pieces that we have. People are

always interested in the Native American center, as well as the Chautauqua display.   And

are always extremely impressed with the District court room located on the second floor

of the Old Post Office museum.

Again our board members and staff were involved in fundraising, the Devils Run pie and ice cream sale went well, the Walleye Festival was another successful fundraiser, and this year we added a football pool, centering on the Minnesota Vikings games and sold over 250 books of tickets.  There are winners every week!

Although our Monday Night's at the Museum continues to be presented their is much work that the board members and staff put into these events.  We greatly appreciate the participation from the local community!   Although down sizing for the winter months October will be our last Monday at the Museum until April 2012.  Please see our events page for October.

As a member of the North Dakota Art Gallery Association, we will still have new and local artists displayed during the winter months.  Watch the website for upcoming art shows!

We look forward to the schools in the area who bring the students to the museum, and learn more about the history of the area.  As always to the schools please call ahead and make a appointment, we will be glad to welcome you any day of the week to give a tour to your school.  Click on our contact page.

Thank you, and have a scary and safe Halloween!

Greetings friends of the museum,

November is upon us and looking forward to that wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with our families.  The museum will be closed on Thursday the 24th so we can be with our families on that day.

The visitor's to the museum has slowed down quite a bit, we are still open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for those visitors who like to travel on the weekends.

We had our regular board meeting on the 8th of November, staff and board members decided to resume Monday's at the museum in April of 2012 when we open full-time again.  Will be posting more on a later date...

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and safe travels for the Holiday!
